At EcoMystic, sustainability is at the heart of everything we create. From our candle ingredients to vessels, packaging, and shipping supplies—every detail is intentionally chosen with the Earth in mind. We partner with suppliers who share our values, prioritizing ethical sourcing, clean materials, and environmentally responsible practices. Together, we craft tools for transformation that honor both your energy and the planet. Because the spaces we live in and love should reflect our values—where comfort, intention, and sustainability go hand-in-hand.
Supplier Practices
The Wax
1. 100% Plant-Based & Paraffin-Free
Waxes are made from renewable plant sources—soy, coconut, and apricot—and contain no paraffin. This makes them a safer, cleaner-burning alternative to petroleum-based waxes.
2. Non-Toxic, Clean Formulation
Free from phthalates, parabens, sulfates, and other harmful chemicals. No synthetic stabilizers or toxic additives.
3. Vegan & Cruelty-Free
No animal-derived ingredients or animal testing are involved in the production process.
4. Biodegradable
waxes naturally break down over time, reducing environmental impact.
5. Skin Safe & FDA-Compliant
Formulated using FDA-approved ingredients and safe for skin contact when used according to IFRA and SDS guidelines.
6. Made in the USA
Produced domestically, which supports local agriculture and manufacturing while reducing the emissions associated with overseas shipping.
The Wicks
1. Responsibly Sourced Wood (FSC-Certified)
FSC-certified mills follow strict environmental and social standards to ensure responsible forestry.
2. Non-Toxic & Clean-Burning
Wicks are non-toxic and contain no metals or Prop 65-listed substances. They’re safe to burn and produce minimal soot when properly wicked.
5. Tree Planting Partnership
Our supplier funds the planting of new trees through their partnership with Trees for the Future. This supports global reforestation and helps offset environmental impact.
The Scents
1. Clean, Non-Toxic Formulations
Formulated to be free from parabens, phthalates, sulfates, BHT/BHA, PEGs, and diacetyl. They are created with human and environmental safety in mind.
2. Allergen-Conscious & Toxin-Free
Free from common allergens such as wheat, soy, and nuts. They also do not contain any carcinogens, mutagens, or reproductive toxins. No Prop 65-listed ingredients are used.
3. IFRA Compliance & Transparency
Developed in compliance with IFRA safety standards and is accompanied by Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and allergen reports. This ensures transparency and safe usage for both skin and home applications.
4. Ethical Sourcing & Sustainable Innovation Ingredients are sourced with attention to sustainability and social responsibility. Many include naturally derived components or essential oils, prioritizing clean formulas
5. Vegan & Cruelty-Free
No animal-derived ingredients are used, and the oils are never tested on animals.
The Crystals
1. Ethical Sourcing from Small Mines & Cooperatives
- Crystals are sourced directly from small mines, family-run operations, and worker-owned cooperatives to ensure fair wages, safe working conditions, and socially responsible extraction.
2. Transparent Supply Chain & Fair Trade Standards
- They verify every supplier holds valid mining and environmental licenses, comply with labor laws, and avoid regions with child labor or conflict.
3. 100% Natural, Unaltered Crystals
- All stones are 100% natural and single-origin. No heat-treatment, irradiation, synthetic enhancements, or color dyes.
4. Community & Environmental Regeneration
- Mining partners often engage in reforestation or land-restoration after extraction. Many operations use mining as a force for community development, such as infrastructure, education, or agriculture.
5. Zero-Waste Philosophy & Innovation
- Tiny chips and offcuts are reused, sometimes incorporated into soil for farming or diverted into sustainable agriculture projects. Waste from polishing operations is being researched for reuse.
6. Eco-Friendly Polishing & Cleaning
- Polishing uses plant-based, non-toxic soaps and oils (e.g. grapeseed, jojoba). Rainwater is collected for washing, and greywater is reused in production.
7. Compostable & Recycled Packaging
- Products are packaged using 100% compostable plant-based cotton bags (no single-use plastics), sugarcane pulp labels and paper, recycled or reused shipping boxes, and compostable tape.
8. Low-Impact Shipping Practices
- U.S. orders are shipped via USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail to minimize carbon emissions. For bulk imports, ocean freight is prioritized over air.
9. Reforestation via Tree Planting
- For every order placed, a mangrove tree is planted in Madagascar via the Eden Reforestation Project, helping offset carbon and support coastal ecosystems.
10. Profits Supporting Social Change
- A portion of annual profits is donated to social and ecological justice organizations.
In-House Eco Practices
- Secondhand first. From candle vessels and tools to equipment and supplies, we prioritize buying secondhand whenever possible—including through resale markets where fellow candle makers pass along unused materials.
- Recycled paper, always. We use 100% recycled paper products wherever we can—think paper towels, printer paper, and packing inserts.
- Low-waste shipping. Our shipping materials are either made from recycled content or reused from our own incoming orders. If we receive it in good shape, we put it back to work.
- No single-use plastics. We avoid single-use plastics entirely unless there’s no other sanitary or safety option available.
- Non-toxic cleaning. We use natural, biodegradable cleaning supplies—many of which we DIY ourselves. When store-bought is necessary, we choose the safest, most eco-friendly options available.
